The land abuts Walmart’s distribution center 6073, 160 State Road S-13-682 in Pageland. Council member Ethan Foard, District 3, said in a phone interview, “It is the parcel adjacent to the truck entrance on the north side, with frontage along 601 North.”
County Administrator Michelle Stanley said in an email that the parties had entered into talks about the property in spring 2025, adding, “This transaction was authorized by Ordinance No. 25-26-02, with first reading by title only on May 15, 2025, second reading on June 4, 2025, and third reading and public hearing on October 24, 2025.”
The parcel had been named “Property W” in the readings.
The County executed its documents of the sale March 20, 2026, and closed on March 27, Stanley said.
County Attorney Coleman Bryant said in an email that though he cannot verify the Property W sale was the largest per-acre sale for Chesterfield County, “it very well may be, and if it is not, then I would guess that it is probably close to it.”
Both Coleman and Stanley said the County is unaware of any plans the purchaser has for the property.
Foard said, “I hope to see a potential remedy for the periodic traffic encroachments from incoming trucks being backed up onto the roadway.”
