At its Dec. 9 meeting, the Council voted unanimously to pass resolutions 12-25-02 and 12-25-03 to apply for US Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration and SC Aeronautics grants, respectively.

Hartsville City Manager Daniel Moore introduced the resolutions, saying "This is a $200,000 project; the city only has ... a 2.5% match, which is only about $5,000."

Moore said the city has already repaved the runway, adding, "We now need to look at doing some other improvements: lighting, improvements to the apron and to the runway itself."
