Hartsville City Manager Daniel Moore said in a phone interview that the site is city-owned land bounded to the west by 4th Street, to the north by Railroad Avenue, to the south by Chinaberry Drive and Jordan Street, and by Coker Avenue on the east. The plot surrounds Wildheart Brewery, 317 Railroad Ave.
The site is “fully assembled, development-ready land” that sits at the center of such assets as Sonoco Packaging Co.’s headquarters, “the SC Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, Coker University, Neptune Island Waterpark, and a downtown with 97% commercial occupancy,” according to the statement.
The city said it has streamlined the proposal process to shift the focus away from extensive upfront design work and toward identifying the “right development partner.”
“Initial submissions emphasize experience, vision and approach, allowing both the city and prospective partners to collaboratively refine a development concept that complements Hartsville’s continued growth,” the statement said.
The deadline for proposals is 5 p.m., Aug. 28. More information is available on the city’s website. Questions and proposals should be directed to Hartsville City Manager Daniel Moore by telephone at 843-383-3015 or by email at [email protected].
