Grants for the farmers market had been a topic at Chesterfield Town Council meetings in March and April. Kimrey said they had already received a $250,000 grant from the SC Department of Commerce and have applied for another from Lowe’s Companies Inc. “But, we haven’t heard back from them,“ he said.
The timetable on design and construction has not been determined. “I would say it will take, maybe, nine months from start to finish," Kimrey said, adding that Chesterfield will operate the market once it’s complete.
“We’re looking forward to it, once we can get it moving along through the process,” he said.
