The Sandblast Rally is a car and motorcycle race run primarily in the Sand Hills State Forest and H. Cooper Black Jr. Memorial Field Trial and Recreation Area facility in Chesterfield County, according to the race's website.
Rally Organizer Andrew Frick said in an interview that the affected roads include sections of Overflow Road and Wire Road 3, and part of McBride Road within the state forest. He said the rest are truck trails in Sand Hills State Forest, as well as roads within H. Cooper Black.
During the Appointments section of the meeting, Frick addressed the council, saying there were 45 entrants in last year's running, which is down slightly from pre-coronavirus levels, adding that he expects a similar turnout this year.
Council Chair Mary Anderson thanked Frick for his investment in the county. She said "It's been a pleasure of mine to get to know not only the organizers, but a lot of folks who come for the event. They really love Chesterfield County and spend a lot of time and money here."
The 2026 Sandblast Rally will be the 30th running of the rally, which takes place Feb. 27–28.
